A Complete Guide on How to Start a Fashion Blog and Make Money

If you’ve landed on this blogpost, chances are that you’re thinking of starting your own fashion blog. You might be an avid blog reader or have a unique fashion style that you want to share with the world. Starting a fashion blog is a hobby that can help you build an online community with a shared interest. We all know how blogging can go from a hobby to a side hustle and a lucrative career.

When you’re starting a fashion blog, you want to be doing it because you love blogging and not because you expect to make thousands of dollars from it – at least at the beginning. I’m sharing a step-by-step guide for how to start a fashion blog.

Choose a name

The most important step is to choose the name of your fashion blog. Most fashion influencers are choosing to use their own names to build a personal brand. If you want to be a little more anonymous, you can choose a nickname or specific blog name. You want to make sure it’s related to the fashion niche that you’re writing in, otherwise it might confuse your audience. It’s also best to choose a blog name that has your niche included in your name. For example; “She Wears Fashion!” This will make it easier for you to pop up in search engines.

As soon as you decide your name, make a point of saving the handles on all social media platforms, including Instagram and TikTok. Some people prefer to use a thesaurus or a search engine online.

Pick your website provider

Once you have your name, you need to decide where you want to host your website. The most common choice for fashion blogs is WordPress, although Squarespace is becoming a popular alternative. Blogger is the OG platform and user-friendly, but its themes look a little dated compared to what’s offered on WordPress or Squarespace.

When you’ve chosen your website provider, you can purchase and connect your website domain. I recommend Blue Host. It’s always best to start with a domain instead of using one of the free URLs offered by your provider. Choose a theme that works for you and personalize it to match your branding. I always resort to using my iPad so that all your content will link directly to your iCloud. I recommend using the free OceanWP theme from WordPress, there are an infinite amount of options for coding.

Set up your social media profiles

After you’ve finished setting up your website, you want to turn your attention to social media profiles. Your blog name should match (as much as possible) across all your platforms, along with having the same profile pictures so your audience will recognize you. It’s worth starting with at least Instagram and TikTok, making sure that you include a link to your blog in your bio. This detachable keyboard makes keeping track of your content much easier and not nearly as much of a hassle as lugging around a bulky and heavy lab top.

Write up a social media content calendar

Planning out your content is the secret to success. A social media content calendar lets you plan out your content in advance, giving you time to take photographs and create the copy for your blog posts. You want to make sure you include Instagram and other social posts into your content calendar. All you need is to buy a diary or print a free calendar to start your content planning. It’s a good idea to work at least a few weeks ahead so that you’re not running out of ideas.

Start posting!

Now you’ve got your blog started and have your social media profiles up and running. It’s time to start posting and build your community. Engagement is key, so you want to reach out to other people in your niche to collaborate. Keep your content unique and true to who you and your blog are. The quality of your content always plays a big role as a content creator and avid blogger. You want to make sure that you use a device that’s delivering top quality videos and photos. After all isn’t that what we solely rely on? This mirrorless camera allows you to capture impressive content and it is also WiFi friendly!

Currently it seems like WordPress is the top blogging platform available right now.

At this moment I am going away to do my breakfast, when having my breakfast coming yet again to
    read further news.

  3. Today, I went to the beach front with my kids. I found a sea shell and gave
it to my 4 year old daughter and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.”
She put the shell to her ear and screamed. There was a hermit crab inside and it
pinched her ear. She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is totally off
topic but I had to tell someone!
