This course is also known as the oldest course in the world and is perhaps why it is the best course in the world. Also, the first game ever played of golf took place on this course in the 15th century which is why it is the oldest.

National Golf Links of America 

An engineer by the name of Seth Raynor studied golf courses in Scotland and England and was on a mission to make a golf course better than any of the ones already in The United States. He wanted to bring little parts of both England and Scotland to The United States and he did just that.

Merion Golf Club 

The Merion East Golf Course has hosted more USGA Championships than any other course in America. It has also held some great moments of play like the great Robert Tyre Jones for example. A report when it first opened stated, “among experts, it is considered the finest inland links in the county.”

Pinehurst No. 2

Pinehurst No. 2 has hosted more single golf championships than anywhere else in America nad has also hosted back to back U.S. Open and U.S. Women’s Open Championships for the first time in 2014. It is a very reputable course and many people love it especially because they are always keen to have tournaments hosted here.

Royal Portrush Golf Club 

The interesting thing about Royal Portrush Golf Club is the fact that it first hosted an Open Championship in 1951. This also means it was the first not held on the island of Great Britain. This was a major accomplishment at the time because they were always held in Great Britain.

Pebble Beach Golf Links 

This beautiful course in California was also on the list for the top 10 famous golf courses in America. Lots of people know this course because there are always tournaments being layed here and the location is just stunning. It sits right next to the ocean and is a stones throw from the beach.

Sand Hills Golf Club 

The Sand Hills Golf Club is located in Nebraska and just happens to be the most naturally occurring golf course in America. The designers and creators got really lucky because all they had to do was sit back and let nature do its job. 

Winged Foot Golf Club

This golf club is located in the suburbs of New York and was founded by The New York Athletic Club. The name and its logo actually come from The New York Athletic Club building which is located in Manhattan.

Pacific Dunes

This course sits right about the Pacific Ocean hence the name of the course. But it also happens to be a mostly natural golf course and the majority of the land that is there now was found as it was when the course was created. 

Turnberry Resort

This resort in southern Scotland is known for its five-star resort and of course the beautiful golf course they also have to offer. It was also closed down for military use in both of the World Wars as well.
