Seminole golf course was known as the first outstanding and finest golf course in the South. Everything about this course is flawless which is why it is number 1 on the list. The sand dunes add some more spice to the course but the thing you have to worry about the most is the greens. They designed the course so the greens will curve downward but you never know which way they are going. When playing on  this course, it definitely takes some skill and technique but it challenges every skill of a golfer. It is located right on the course so you will also get some of the ocean breeze while playing.

TPC Sawgrass 

The TPC Sawgrass course first started out basically as a swamp. However, when the owners purchased this piece of land they were determined to turn it into a golf course. With lots of drainage, they finally turned it into a playable golf course. This course also takes a lot of strategy because if you do not hit a drive right down the center you will either end up on a beach or behind a tree. You have to be careful when on this course because one bad swing can ruin your game. The course has lots to offer but is definitely challenging.

Streamsong 

The Streamsong course was actually once a phosphate strip mine. I personally find it very interesting to see the history of some of these courses. The course is very challenging because of the strip mine previously being on the same grounds but that’s what makes it fun. THere are also lakes and piles of dirt that reach almost up to 100 feet high in the air. This would certainly be a different site to see when golfing on a golf course. That is what makes this course unique, it stands out from the rest of them because of the strip mining detail.

Calusa Pines

Calusa Pines golf course sits on the highest land point in south Florida. There was dynamite used to create the large elevation gain in this area. Now when you look at the course, for the most part it looks very natural. They have also planted more than 100 Oak trees on the course in addition to the ones already there and it really sets the scene. Although you have to be friends with a member to play here, it is an absolute blast to play on this course. The joining fee is pretty high at Calusa Pines but it would be much cheaper to be friends with a member.

McArthur 

The McArthur golf course was home to some Jersey cows back in the day before it was a golf course. More than a million yards of sugar sand was moved to create what stands today as the McArthur golf course. Although, when they were making this course they had to go through lots of Florida’s natural ecosystems such as wetlands. The beautiful golf course now sits flat on the land with no distractions around it. They made sure that the course had no housing plans or traffic around it so it could have the secluded feel to it. 

John’s Island 

Although the John’s Island golf course is located in a city setting it is a very private and secluded club. The ocean is just a few blocks away on this course so you do not have to worry about hitting the ball on the beach or into the ocean water. The first hole is a warm up hole for the rest of the course, then it gets challenging. The sand traps and fairways can really make or break your game on this course and it can be frustrating. This course is truly the stereotypical Floridian golfing experience. If you really want to get the full experience while in Flordia this course is for you. 

Mountain Lake 

Mountain Lake was known as a hidden gem for a long time because no one really knew of it. Over the years it had to be restored almost to the fullest. Now that the course has been updated they feel like more people will soon flourish. Even though a lot of the course had to be redone it still is authentic to the original but it is more playable now. The course is truly beautiful and is right on Mountain Lake hence the name of the course. More people will come play here and soon enough the name will get around that it is a beautiful course that more people need to play at. 

Jupiter Hills 

Jupiter Hills is also located in a city setting but it is right off the coast. Just minutes from the beach you can play on this stunning golf course. This is a huge course where the main thing to be concerned about is your strategic plan on how to play the course. There are so many different angles to approach all the holes but which is the best? You might be a pro golfer golfing on this course but if you do not get the angles right on the shots it can mess up your whole game. You should take on this aspect of your game with confidence but make sure to give yourself enough time to think about strategy.

World Woods 

A previous president of PGA commented that “This is like having Pine Valley and Augusta, plus the best practice facility in the world – in the same location.” You have to know that if a former president of such a big club known as PGA said this that the golf course is top notch. He has seen lots of courses over his career and when he says something about this course you know it has to be one of the best he has ever seen. Mr. Black, the former president of PGA would also not say this about any course, he would have to have standards under which the course would fall under. 

The Concession 

At The Concession golf course in Florida, there have been many plays that lots of people will never forget. Things like the first ever tie in history for The Ryder Cup happened on this course. Lots of great memories have happened here and many still are occurring and will occur in the future. You will need to know someone to play on this course because it is a privately owned club.
