About the resort
The largest golf resort in the world is known as Mission Hills in China. The original mission of the guy who created the resort was “to bring the world to China, and China to the world”, and did just that with the resort. The resort has 396 holes with 12 courses on one side and 10 other courses on the Haikou complex on Hainan Island. Since creating this course, the group has expanded its business across many cities in China. They have invested approximately $40 billion into the business. The founder was inspired to buy a piece of land in China after visiting Toronto.
The Mission Hills resort in China has also been accredited by the Guinness World Records as being the largest golf resort in the world. An interesting fact about the resort is that the 12 courses around the resort were actually designed by golf legends from around the world. When creating this course, the founders wanted to ensure that each course was being tough out very carefully. To ensure this they asked a few select players if they wanted to make their own course and then have it featured at the resort.
The resort has hosted over 100 international golf tournaments and more recently just hosted China’s first renown golf championship in 1995, the 41st World Cup of Golf. The motive while creating this resort was to make Hainan Island the sports capital of Asia. By designing and creating this resort it did just that. In 2004, when the Guiness World Record named Mission Hills the largest golf resort in the world, it surpassed one in the United States known as Pinehurst Resort. Therefore, the second largest one in the world would be Pinehurst Resort which is located in North Carolina.
The Resort
Yes this is the largest golf resort in the whole world and of course everyone who visits there loves it. There have been many reviews about the resort and saying things like: how spotless it was, how great the service was, how nice the staff is, and so much more. Going here is a once in a lifetime thing just because it is one of the Guinness World Record spots. Going to a resort like this would offer top notch service and have many amazing things to offer. I mean think about it, the courses were created by some of the best golf legends in the world. The resort would not have people traveling from all over the world to see the place if the service and rooms were not the best.
The resort is pet friendly, offers a pool, spa, air conditioning, breakfast is included, and so much more. Normally you would go there to golf just because it is the world’s biggest golf course and resort but I am sure you can just go there for everything else it has to offer. However, if it were me and I knew I was going to a resort like this and did not know how to golf I definitely would get some lessons for going. Since it is the biggest in all of the world I am sure prices to pay would be pretty expensive but then you have to think it is a once in a lifetime deal and chance to play on these courses.
They also have buffets, bars, coffee shops, and rooms available at pretty much anytime of the day. When staying at this resort the staff ensures you are getting pampered and being taken care of pretty well. Staying at the report can be lots of fun and they also have many things to do. They have an aerobics class, pilates class, hiking and biking trails, golf driving range, full-service spa, and pretty much anything else you can think of. When thinking about how long you should stay at this resort, my recommendation would definitely be longer than a week. If you want to give yourself some time to play on most of the golf courses without rushing and try to experience everything the resort has to offer you definitely want to stay longer than a week.
If I were paying to stay here at a resort this high class, and the biggest one in the world I would definitely ensure that I am getting to enjoy almost everything it has to offer.
When going on their website, it shows everything they have to offer as well. It shows all the things they can perform at the spa, things to do at the resort, accessibilities, business services, what is outdoors, and so much more. And with a simple Google search you can quickly find things to do outside of the resort. However again, if I were paying this much to stay at a resort I would be using all my time trying to take in everything it has to offer instead of going somewhere else but that’s just me.
I think everyone should want to go to this resort but of course know how to golf first. This is every golfer’s dream to see and even play on the biggest resort in the world. It would be a blast to play on that many holes and see what each hole and course has to offer. When speaking of the course they may even have different difficulties that each course requires. Such as, a beginner golfer going to this resort might want to start on hole number 1 of course 1. But with it being the biggest resort in the world it may only offer to the more experienced golfers because some of the best golf legends created each course. If there was a family visiting this course, it would be great for the children to learn on these courses or even spark an interest in them to start playing golf. Even though they may look difficult it should get them excited to become better and maybe have their own course there one day.
