Luttrellstown Castle Golf Club
This golf club is not only one of the best in Dublin, but it is certainly one of the best in all of Ireland as well. From the tips this course sits at a long 7,347 yards for a total par of 72. Do not let this long distance discourage you from playing here however as they have other tees for people with lower handicaps.
What also makes this golf course special is their links style bunkers and their redesigned greens which now meet USGA specifications. This golf course is truly like none other for the fact that there is a castle that lies on its grounds in addition to the golf course. So at Luttrellstown Castle golf club you get the best of both worlds with golf and history, which really connects you to the heritage of Dublin.
The Island Golf Club
The Island golf club is beautifully located on the coastline of Ireland and is only a fifteen minute drive from Dublin International airport. The course is a links course so that adds to the difficulty with the high fescue that makes up for the trees. However with the views of the ocean in the background this golf course truly cannot be beat.
Now even though it may be one of the harder courses around, if you miss the fairway, one of the best things is that this course has some of the best greens around. Not only are they some of the best kept greens in Dublin, but they are also some of the largest greens which will certainly help you with your game.
Portmarnock Golf Club
Portmarnock golf club is also another golf course that is right on the coastline, but it is even more unique than the Island golf club from above. This is because the Portmarnock golf club lies out on a peninsula with nothing on this land but the golf course itself. Yes it is another links course, but do not worry as the rough is not nearly as thick as the Island. Now you will have a better chance of hitting your shoots into the ocean, but that only adds to the fun!
There is no castle on this course unfortunately, but it does have a long history of great players playing at this course including Arnold Palmer, Sam Snead, and Phil Mickelson. Join the greats and go play this course today!
TPC Sawgrass – Stadium Course
This course should be on every golfers bucket list because of the one specific hole it is known for. The insane 17th hole on this course is literally insane and can either make or breaka players game. You may be asking, what’s so special about this hole that everyone should want to play on it? My answer to you would be, the hole is in the middle of the water on an island. As stated before this, it can make or break a game which makes it super fun and competitive. One has to make sure they do not mess up their swing or do something different especially on this hole because it will come back to bit the player.
Yes, the course has this challenging hole but it is also known to host PGA championships and occasionally has some interesting creatures cross the course such as alligators. This course is great if you are up for a challenge and feel yourself getting a bit comfortable at your normal course that you play at.
Harbour Town Golf Links
This beautiful course is located in Hilton Head, South Carolina. The Harbour Town Golf Links course is mostly known for the year after year awards of being in the top golf courses around or in America. But like the others, it puts each golfer who steps on the course a challenge. The course has narrow fairways, thick treelines, multiple lagoons and of course the ocean is right next to the course.
It would be an absolutely beautiful site to play on this course but again you have to be up for a challenge if you want to play here. Just like the TPC Sawgrass course this one can make or break you if you do just as much as tweak your swing for one hole.
Torrey Pines Golf Course
Torrey Pines Golf Course sits on top of a cliff towering over the beautiful Pacific Ocean in California. It got its specific name because of a certain type of tree that rarely grows in that area but on the course they have a long line of these certain trees. If one would want a view of what they were going to be playing at they could easily go on their website to look at their gallery and there you go. All the photos they have on the website show what some of the holes look like and of course the amazing view of the ocean in the background.
This should be on a golfer’s bucket list because of not only the beautiful site but also because of the cliffs the course is on. Imagine telling people afterward about where you just golfed! It is very rare to golf overlooking the ocean but also on a cliff.
Royal County Down Golf Club
For the last course on the bucket list we are heading over to Northern Ireland. Not only does this course sit beside the oceanside but it also has the beautiful mountains in the distance. The view would not only make golfers want to golf here but even people who do not normally play the game. After reading this go ahead and look up Royal County Down Golf Club in Northern Ireland so you can see for yourself how truly magnificent the view is of the golf course.
No matter what course you pick from this list you truly will be playing at a beautiful one. Remember to challenge yourself ever once in a while and enjoy the views while doing so.
